About

Dr Jennifer Luke, PhD

Hi, I’m Jennifer. Careers counsellor, researcher, lecturer, resource developer, and keynote speaker. I’m passionate about decent, meaningful work at every age and stage of life, and about connecting the dots between who people are, what the world of work is doing, and what is genuinely possible from where they’re standing.

Everyone has a story. Everyone has value. And everyone deserves a clear view of what’s actually available to them.

My path into this work began in employment services and vocational training across Queensland and the Northern Territory, working with job seekers, agency staff, and employers, and teaching at TAFE (Technical and Further Education institutes).

While completing my MEd in Career Development and PhD in Vocational Psychology, I worked within universities as a careers counsellor and educator. What I saw and learned along the way shapes everything I do today. Career development is about understanding yourself, reading what’s happening around you, and staying adaptable. Workforce data, trends, and the history of work all matter, but always as a way of connecting the dots between what’s happening in the world of work and what that means for a person exploring and navigating their career and life.

What I Do

  • Career counselling, coaching, and consulting for individuals and groups at any point in a working life – any age, any stage.
  • Develop and facilitate or present workshops, webinars, lectures, and keynote presentations
  • Project work with universities and organisations, short or long term, including career education resources, curriculum development, career programs, graduate employability initiatives, professional development for career practitioners, and policy consultation
  • Media discussions and published articles connecting labour market trends, skills gaps, and workforce knowledge retention to what they mean for people and their careers
  • Practical career education resources built to leave people with something concrete to work with
